Since the establishment of the master plan, an increasing effort has been put to have new architectural projects, as well as restorations and additions to existing facilities, on Texas A&M campus meet the Campus Master Plan (CMP) guiding principles. The Council on the Built Environment (CBE) advises the President and the Executive Vice President and Provost on all aspects of the campus built environment in support of Vision 2020 goals and the core missions of teaching and research, and based on the CMP as the ruling document. The Design Review Board (DRB) enters the picture once a building project moves into the design phase, and works with TAMUS Facilities, Planning, and Construction Department (FP&C) to assure that new buildings as well as major ranovation projects for the Texas A&M campus adhere to the design principles in the Campus Master Plan from the design’s conception through the project’s completion.
The DRB meets monthly to discuss developments relevant to all building projects
on campus. When a project reaches a major design review stage with the Facilities
Planning & Construction Department, the DRB reviews the project for compliance
with the Campus Master Plan guidelines, and then makes recommendations to the
architect/constructor through the TAMU System. The DRB also keeps the Executive
Vice President for Operations, Dr. H. Russell Cross, as well as
Texas
A&M
President, Dr. Elsa A. Murano, informed about the progress of each project.
